The Crested Butte Center for the Arts presents An Evening with Keller Williams Thursday, March 8 @ 8 pm. Early Bird tickets are $40 and available until March 1. Regular tickets are $45.
Defining the term “independent artist,” Keller Williams’ music sounds like nothing else. Engaging in “live phrase sampling” or “looping,” Keller uses an arsenal of technical toys to create samples on stage in front of the audience, then layering them on top of one another. The end result is a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronic, a genre Keller calls “acoustic dance music” or “ADM.” File it under “electro-hippie acoustic downtempo,” he jokes. Obviously unbeholden to conventionalism, Keller improvises on his own quirky compositions as well as on a mind-blowing stylistic spread of covers from Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, Ani DiFranco and the Sugar Hill Gang, taking his musical ability as far as he can.
